I’ve been working a bit in the NY studio of artist Takashi Murakami over the last couple months. Needless to say it’s been pretty mind blowing to be around so many talented artists and such a high-quality level of work. I’m sure it’s going to make a huge impact on the way I make my own artwork from here on out. I’m interested to see what happens.
So anyway, if you didn’t already know, Murakami has been consistently tweeting away recently & sharing some great pics of his studio & art-making process on his Twitter account. I’ve boosted some of his pics to share with you. Most of the pics shown are actually from his studio in Japan. But the NYC studio is very similar, in look and in process… pretty frickin’ dope stuff if you ask me. CLICK FOR WAY MORE TIGHT PICS!

Within the art scheme, one’s work must have a critical component to be popular. The general public, however, is attracted to very silly paintings. I don’t see why contemporary works have to appeal to one audience or another ~Takashi Murakami

My way is to establish Walt Disney style. I believe Walt Disney is a super artist…. Some people say he is artist or not. I think much more than Marcel Duchamp is Walt Disney concept piece, really hardcore. Because he can get what people desire. And then I read he was alcoholic, and he got his ideas when he drank. It is really artist style! ~Takashi Murakami
